Relaxing in a quiet place, possibly launching a kayak or paddleboard
White Caribbean sand
Clear water, but it usually has lots of sargassum weed
Playa Escondida is a Southside beach that takes “all natural” to a level beyond even La Chiva.
It’s got nice white sand, but it is covered with whatever Mother Nature wanted to deliver that day, which may include seaweed, ocean trash, driftwood, etc. On rare occasions it may be quite clear. It is a small cove that looks directly into the prevailing trade winds, causing it at times to gather enormous amounts of sargassum seaweed. If that’s the case, swimming can be undesirable. You could still launch a paddleboard or kayak here, and it is always a nice quiet place to get away from it all.
There is not much shade here so plan accordingly.
